DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals build a life worth living, even in the midst of intense emotions or difficult circumstances. DBT integrates mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to support meaningful and lasting change. Through a balance of acceptance and skill-building, clients learn to understand their emotions, reduce harmful behaviors, improve relationships, and move through life's challenges with greater confidence, clarity, and resilience.

CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. This evidence-based approach helps individuals identify patterns that may be contributing to distress and replace them with healthier, more effective strategies. Through guided skill-building and practical tools, CBT empowers clients to understand their internal experiences, challenge unhelpful thinking, and create meaningful, lasting change in daily life.

MI (Motivational Interviewing)

Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, client-centered approach used to support individuals in exploring and strengthening their motivation for change. Grounded in empathy and respect, MI meets people where they are, helping them clarify values, resolve ambivalence, and move forward at their own pace. This approach honors autonomy and encourages individuals to build confidence, direction, and momentum toward meaningful personal goals.

Stages Of Change

Stages of Change is a common model used by therapists when evaluating one's readiness to engage in addiction treatment. Stages of Change can be used with a wide variety of challenges, however, is paramount when assessing those struggling with addictions.

Trauma Informed

Trauma informed practice is a critical part of delivering a well-rounded and holistic approach to care. It helps to separate the person from the experience and treat the underlying symptoms,  beliefs, and grief that people are often left with following a traumatic incident / chronic exposure to trauma.

Anti-Oppressive Practice

Anti-oppressive practice includes having knowledge and awareness of her personal and professional privilege in our society. We are passionate about reducing barriers to treatment and accessing resources through implementing key aspects of AOP into our practices.
AOP recognizes the various imbalances in our society when it comes to gender, sexuality, religion, race, ethnicity and socioeconomical status. It aims to create an equal playing field.

Our Therapeutic Approaches to Treatment

PET (Prolongues Exposure Therapy)

Prolonged Exposure Therapy is an evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals gradually face trauma-related memories, feelings, and situations that they have been avoiding. Through structured exposure exercises, clients learn that they can safely process their experiences rather than feel controlled by them. Over time, PET reduces fear, increases confidence, and strengthens the ability to live life without avoidance guiding decisions.

CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy)

Cognitive Processing Therapy helps individuals understand how past trauma has shaped their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more balanced, grounded perspectives. CPT supports healing by improving clarity, reducing emotional distress, and helping clients regain control over their thoughts and sense of self.

Person Centered

Person-Centered practice places you at the heart of therapy. This approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth. You are seen as the expert of your own lived experience, and therapy unfolds collaboratively—honoring your pace, strengths, values, and goals.

Our Core Values

Ethical Practice

Our experience enables us to offer high quality effective outpatient clinical and holistic care. We are committed to treating a number of mental health, addiction and concurrent disorders while ensuring best practices are in place. To ensure we are providing exceptional care we are dedicated to participating in ongoing training and learning opportunities. We adhere to the standards and policies outlined within the NBASW and CASW.

Holistic Care

We view the individual as a whole and consider the internal and external factors that contribute to a person's challenges. We are dedicated to completing a thorough assessment prior to treatment to ensure all aspects of the individual are explored and considered. We offer additional support such as assisting with connecting individuals and families to other available supports and services or working in collaboration with other agencies and organizations when appropriate to do so.

Accessibility

We strongly believe that every person in need of mental health and/or addiction treatment should have equal opportunity to access services. Whether you are struggling with low income, concerned about stigma, mobility issues, hearing impaired, cognitively impaired, vision impaired, or simply unsure what to expect and are hesitant to reach out for assistance, we are prepared to meet you where you are at. We will do our best to accommodate your unique individual needs. Our Clinic is wheelchair accessible.

Transparency

Just like you, we too are human. We do not have all of the answers to every question. We have limitations and know the importance of being aware of these limitations in order to prevent malpractice or harm during treatment. If we are unsure of something, we will be open and honest with you. We will work in collaboration with you, other dedicated professionals and community agencies (when appropriate and if you provide consent for us to do so) to ensure your therapeutic needs are being met.

Confidentiality

The relationship between a therapist and client is privileged and should be treated as such. Your personal health information will remain confidential unless a disclosure of imminent danger or risk to you or others occurs during treatment.

Community

We care deeply about our community and the well-being of all people in the community. We are dedicated to offering unique and creative services such as virtual support groups, skills groups, and connecting with other agencies.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements and projects our clinic will be participating in to better serve our community!
